becoming part of your past
Fractured-Memories{dot}Net is my second domain, bought 24th August 2005 by my dad for doing well at ICT (at school) and for doing well with html work. The reason for buying the domain was simple enough; Espo Girl's Shrine was hosted with Lost-Legends, filed with Freewebs, which took forever to load and wouldn't come up with the folders off it, so I couldn't have my tcg and shrines there. Plus, there was a downside with Lost-Legends. At the time, where it was bought, it would only have .com, and wouldn't handle ftp. And with fanlistings, you need ftp to get yourself anywhere. I also really wanted another domain for fanlistings anyway. Thus, fractured-memories.net was born.I also wanted a domain with .net at the end, so I that was an obvious choice. Then, came the name. I eventually came up with 'memories' and then the problem came of what to have in front of it. The thought of 'memories' had lingered in my mind for ages, since a lot of ideas I came up with around the time of lost-legends where already taken. And alongside that note, too, I just seem to love the CONCEPT of memories: for no apparant, obvious reason, which completely clashes with my oh-woe-is-me personality. Either way, then came what to put in front of 'memories'.
So I went away again and thought about it, and came up with Fractured Memories. The name basically comes from my anime idol, Sakura. In Tsubasa, she has lost her memories and are fractured into feathers, so I chose that, since it sounded good, and I love Sakura to pieces. Plus the fact Tsubasa is an awesome anime and manga, which I stalk forever more (mwa ha). I also like the word fractured as well; which deffinately drifts into my personality, and I most likely related it due to the word 'feather'. It wasn't till after I requested it I realised it related to many more of my favourite charcters. And since it does relate to my favourite characters, it relates to me as well. For some strange reason, whatever I 'name' a site seems to follow me around: for example, I discovered Kingdom Hearts and Sora, and what happened to him? A whole game about his chain of memories. Still, the original inspiration was Sakura (and still is, as a matter of fact).
Abbreveated, the name is often shortned to 'Fractured'. This came around since it is, after all, a rather long name. And now, that concludes the domain setting. Except, one thing: Fractured is now one year old and is still going strong. May it be with us for a long time to come.
After changing servers in early 2007, I decided to come up with a network name - hey, it's what all the cool kids are doing. After a rather short decision, I grew attatched to 'Lonely Princess'. Why? Because Sakura is lonely without her memories, and she is a princess afterall. As is Kairi. And so are other characters lonely without memories... so that's where it comes in.
I had a rather big scare in June 2007 - it was announced that the domain would expire in August. However, I had no control over it, so it all depended on someone else to whether we got it back. After a month of worrying, I was finally relieved to the fact that it was saved, and I still posess fractured. It can still shine with its glory.
