:: shin shunkaden
Is the story of a girl called Chun Hyang, based on a korean legend, but CLAMP style. Her mother is a master of the medicinal arts, and even with the option to gain those talents, Chun Hyang prefers her martial arts. Her life is fairly peaceful, as a whole, as she runs errands for her mother and helps out the townsfolk. However, her town of Ryon Fi is plauged by a particularly evil Shinban; he hurst the townsfolk, and he's grown tired of Chun Hyang's rebellious ways to his men (in other words, she beats them, and he doesn't like it). He kidnaps Chun Hyang's mother one day, and she kills herself to protect her honour. Chun Hyang gets revenge on the Shinban, but defying the Shinban means death, so how does she do it? With the help of the mysterious traveller Mong Ryong, who is more than just a traveller; and thus, her journey begins.The series is fairly short, as it amasses to two chapters in present day and one in the past, all in one volume. CLAMP moved on from the series to draw other things. However, they have expressed interest to go back and finish it one day, so who knows? Maybe there will be more of Chun Hyang and Mong Ryong travelling together in the future.
   :: tsubasa reservoir chronicle
This series focuses mainly on the main characters from Card Captor Sakura, Sakura and Syaoran, although this time Syaoran is more of the main character. Sakura has basically lost all her memories, and Syaoran promises he will get them back. Yukito [also from CCS] transports them to the 'Time-Witch,' Yuuko [xxxHolic]. The meeting that follows appears in both series, when Yuuko then gives Syaoran Mokona [Magic Knight Rayearth] to take them to differant worlds. This series crosses over with quite a lot of CLAMP's works, and so far I have spotted Card Captor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Chobits, Angelic Layer, XXX/199, xxxHolic, CLAMP School of Detectives, Shin Shukuden, and probably many more.   :: chun hyang
Chun Hyang; I first met her in Tsubasa. She was brave, courageous, and, even though she wanted to hold it all in, she cried when she had to. She really hit me as a character that really needs more airtime. She has long, black hair, and a fighting spirit that rivals many other manga characters. In Shin Shunkaden she is the title character, and similar to her Tsubasa counterpart, she loses her mother. She then decides to travel the country to help out others when Mong Ryong offers. She is older and more experienced, and is often pushing off Mong Ryong's casual, playful advances on her. Her Tsubasa counterpart is notably younger; she looks, to a degree, more similar to Chun Hyang in the original when she was younger. Her personality is also a little more headstrong and needy, since she isn't at the same level of being self sufficient as the girl in Shin Shunkaden.   :: why
She is extraordinarily sincere, strong, reliable and dependant. She also gets a little flustered around Mong Ryong, which amuses me, since she usually beats him up afterwards for getting her in such a state. Chun Hyang was one of the first fully dependant female characters I really encountered whilst reading manga. She does not need a man; she has her martial arts, her mother, and she is fine. Really, why I like her so much is just her personality and her devotion to what she does. She's very hard not to like, in my opinion. Hurrah for awesome characters.   :: valour
According to the English Dictionary, Valour means 'bravery'. This describes Chun Hyang to the full. She is strong, faces her demons and never backs down to something she knows is right, even if it means defying someone.
